Public Law/Care Proceedings

We specialise in advising and representing parents, children and other family members in child protection proceedings (known as Care Proceedings).

If social services are worried about your child’s welfare – because they think your child is being neglected or is at risk of harm – you will need expert legal advice as early as possible to help you understand what is going on and decide how best to deal with the situation, both before and during court proceedings.

Our accredited Children Panel solicitors cover all cases including complex medical cases, cases where the effects of undiagnosed medical conditions are confused with signs of abuse, allegations of physical injury such as shaken baby syndrome, as well as cases involving allegations of sexual and emotional abuse.

We work with all families in all types of cases. We can take urgent action where needed. We listen carefully to our clients and advise on the practical steps needed. No matter how complicated or difficult the circumstances, our highly experienced team will guide you and be by your side every step of the way.

We have members of the Association of Lawyers for Children, the Children Panel and Resolution. We act for parents, Guardians appointed by the court, children and extended family members. We also receive instructions from the local authority to act for proposed Special Guardians and adoptive applicants.

A L Law Associates can secure non-means tested Legal Aid to a child involved in care proceedings or a person with parental responsibility for a child who is subject to such proceedings. Where appropriate we can also seek public funding for other parties either involved or seeking to be involved in care proceedings.
