Cafcass (The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) has officially released the third installment of its acclaimed “Taking me seriously” film series. This latest animation, titled “Meeting your Cafcass Worker,” marks a significant step forward in making the family justice system more accessible and less intimidating for young people.
The new short film is specifically designed to demystify the process for children who are about to meet a Family Court Adviser (FCA). It encourages children to think about what they would like to share regarding their experiences, wishes, and feelings before the meeting takes place. By providing a clear, visual roadmap of what to expect, the film aims to replace anxiety with confidence.
What sets this series apart is its authenticity. Like its predecessors, “Letting you know how we help” and “Sharing our recommendations with you,” this film features the real voices of members of the Family Justice Young People’s Board (FJYPB). These are young individuals with lived experience of the family court system. By hearing from peers who have “been there,” children can feel a sense of solidarity and understanding that professional jargon simply cannot provide.
The film was produced in partnership with My Pockets, an award-winning production company known for capturing the genuine voices of children. The project was driven by the FJYPB’s mission to ensure that children are treated as individuals and that their safety and well-being remain the primary focus of every court decision.
A core part of Cafcass’ mission—and our mission at A L Law—is ensuring that children’s views are not only heard but amplified. We know that family court proceedings can be overwhelming. Tools like these are essential for helping children feel seen, supported, and empowered to speak their truth.
At A L Law, we believe that every child deserves a seat at the table when life-altering decisions are being made. We are proud to have solicitors who are accredited Children Panel Members. Our team regularly represents children directly, ensuring their voice is heard with clarity and legal weight.
