About

Sergio Filonenko Kibu is a Registered Foreign Lawyer at A L Law Associates, working primarily within the firm’s Civil Litigation, Contentious Probate, and Private Client departments.

He advises clients on a broad range of contentious and non‑contentious private client matters, including estate administration, inheritance and probate disputes, wills, succession issues, trusts, and related matters. His practice has a particular focus on complex cross‑border estates and international family wealth matters. In addition, Sergio advises on civil litigation matters such as breach of contract claims, financial disputes (with particular experience in cryptocurrency scam‑related matters), debt recovery, and property disputes, as well as certain corporate and commercial matters.

Prior to joining A L Law Associates, Sergio practised in London for over four years at an international City law firm, acting for both UK‑based and overseas clients across a wide range of contentious probate, private client, corporate, and financial dispute matters. His experience includes advising on challenges to will validity, claims involving undue influence and lack of testamentary capacity, disputes between beneficiaries and executors, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, proprietary estoppel claims, TOLATA disputes, breach of contract claims, financial disputes arising from cryptocurrency scams, and complex estate administrations involving overseas assets and beneficiaries. He also has experience in preparing inheritance tax returns, probate applications, and High Court proceedings relating to estates.

Sergio has particular expertise in cross‑border private client matters and has been involved in cases requiring coordination between UK proceedings and foreign succession laws, including matters involving European jurisdictions. He is known for providing clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused advice, particularly in sensitive family disputes and high‑value estates.

In addition to his private client practice, Sergio has experience in corporate and commercial matters, including shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, and advisory work for owner‑managed businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs. He has also assisted clients with establishing new businesses in the UK across sectors such as professional services, import and export, and information technology, advising on corporate structures, company formation, governance arrangements, and the commercial documentation required to launch and scale operations. He regularly supports entrepreneurs and business owners in structuring their commercial projects for growth.

Before relocating to the UK, Sergio practised for many years in Spain, where he also advised international investors in the real estate sector on acquisitions, developments, financing arrangements, and complex cross‑border commercial transactions.

Sergio is a Spanish‑qualified lawyer (Abogado) and is also registered in England and Wales as a Registered Foreign Lawyer. His international background enables him to assist clients with matters involving multiple jurisdictions, overseas assets, and international business interests.
